Das 52seitige Heft stellt neue und bewährte Linotype-Schriften in Wort und Bild vor (Sabon Next, Compatil, Palatino Nova, ...) und bringt eine Hommage auf Hermann Zapf. Der Herausgeber schreibt über sein neues Magazin: »The Linotype Matrix was a quarterly newssheet produced in England by Linotype & Machinery Ltd. from the 1930s through the 1960s. The publication carried information about Linotype products and the printing trade, as well as articles on type design and typography. As such, it was a platform where new typefaces were portrayed, and the journal often thoroughly reported the success stories of Linotype originals.
Almost 50 years after its last issue, the Linotype Matrix has returned! This time, it is published in magazine format. Rich in content and graphics, the new look takes into consideration the reading habits and design trends of today. But the purpose is still the same: to showcase the hidden gems of Linotype’s collection, and to provide a vehicle for design discourse and typographic expression.«
